Traits associate with turquoise, zircon, tanzanite: Tranquility, honor, purity, good fortune, sensitivity
December has a trio of some of the most beautiful gem stones. Turquoise is one of the oldest stones that was put to use and revered in ancient times. It was a sacred gemstone especially for native americans who used it for jewelry, and as markers for their tombs as they felt it would create a pathway to heaven. Turquoise is felt by many cultures to be a connection between the earth and the spiritual realm.

Tanzanite is a newer stone, but has become increasingly popular. In the 1997 movie Titanic, Kate Winslet wears a heart shaped tanzanite pendant with diamonds that was called, The Heart of the Ocean. Legend has it that Masai cattle herders found the tanzanite after a lightning fire burned down massive Tanzanian forests. The color of the crystal led them to believe that tanzanite came from the heavens by way of lightning, a popular belief throughout history as a way to explain beautiful stones. Legend has it that Celtic chiefs employed tanzanite as a way to help find their new leader. It is also thought that tanzanite is the best stone of a 24th anniversary.
Zircon has its own interesting myths, in Jewish legend, the angel sent by god to watch Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden carried the name Zircon, and thus it has gained the attributes of honor, purity and chastity.
