How to Get Rid of a Cold with Natural Remedies

I don’t know about you but at this time of year as the seasons begin to change and the cold wings start to blow, I often find myself falling prey to little colds and coughs. While it’s not being full blown sick, they make daily life just a little bit harder.

So here are some quick and easy natural ways to get rid of that cough or stuffy nose, a lot of which you might already have in your kitchen.

First off, hydration is of the ultimate importance when our immune systems get compromised, and hot drinks like tea are really the best choice.

  1. Tea

I cannot stress enough how helpful tea will be, you can stick to basic black or green tea which both have healing components or if you want to get creative you can get fruit tea and add to it. I like to put a tea spoon of apple cider vinegar, a tea spoon of honey and even some crushed up turmeric in with the fruit or chamomile tea and I immediately feel 30% better.

Raw or cooked, garlic has some serious healing properties, it is both antiviral and decongestant so is essentially a miracle food. Cook it up with some warm stir fry, or even chomp down on a raw clove and you’ll find yourself recovering much more quickly.

3. Turmeric

Either in golden milk or grated into hot tea, turmeric is a miracle food, it is rich in cur cumin oils and also is anti-viral so helps to get rid of infections.

4. Ginger

Ginger is both anti-inflammatory and antiseptic and also has a way to tone down a nasty cough, put it in some tea freshly grated with some honey and lemon and you are good to go.

5. Apple Cider Vinegar

A highly acidic substance, small amounts of apple cider vinegar helps keep your internal acidic properties equal and balanced. Simply being balanced within your body helps to prevent colds and small bugs you might normally catch.

6. Honey

For anything related to the throat, honey is literally a miracle cure, it is a soothing ingredient and helps for sore or scratchy and painful throats. It also has antimicrobial properties that fight germs and infections. Eat it in a spoon or put it in some tea and you’re on the road to health.

7. Lemon

Lemons are the perfect way to get over a cold quick, and I bet you have a few in your fridge right now. Squeeze it in some tea or just hot water with honey. Lemons both have large doses of vitamin C and is anti-inflammatory qualities so it gives you a quick dose of much needed energy and renewal.
